    The PROMO CODES used to make the FREE & $9.95 rides work are only available to the NEW CUSTOMERS (during the fall semester) IF they register for the promotion and submit a valid photo-ID (see examples elsewhere on this page) to LEX and then are accepted and sent promotion reservation redemption instructions.

    If you are a new customer (this fall semester), then you'll need to send us a message at the Contact/Feedback Page with your email address of the LEX account that is NEW. Once we receive this, we'll send back instructions how to upload a valid photo-ID to your account so that we can review your valid identity. Once it's been validated, another message will be sent to you to show you how to redeem this promotion to receive the FREE and $9.95 ride.

    Promotion codes ... ARE NOT ENTERED AUTOMATICALLY when the reservation is made. YOU must enter them on the FIRST RESERVATION SCREEN in the PROMO CODE field before you click to the following screen. The location of the PROMO CODE field is two fields below the arrival location.

    If your PROMO CODE is accepted by the system, you'll see the promotion code entered on the following screen with departure and arrival times BELOW the ARRIVAL LOCATION with the promotion prices in the RETAIL FARE and STUDENT FARE columns.

    If you schedule and pay for travel with LEX before taking advantage of this promotion, the appropriate amount will be issued in CREDIT to your online LEX Account. REFUNDS TO YOUR CREDIT CARD are not a possibility when it's completely obvious a higher price can be avoided during the Labor Day 2009 holiday travel time.

What determines a QUALIFIED NEW PASSENGER?
  • You'll be considered a QUALIFIED NEW PASSENGER, when ...

    1. your email address doesn't exist in the database (as of 08/07/2009)
    2. your email address MUST receive email from us without delay (for clickable verification, notices, reservation arrangements, and confirmations)
    3. your phone number(s) doesn't exist in the database (as of 08/07/2009)
    4. (for online customer only) your uploaded photo ID clearly matches the entered name on Labor Day 2009 Form
    5. (for walk-up customer to University of Illinois LEX office) photo ID presented to the LEX Express agent (no scan necessary) clearly matches the entered name on Labor Day 2009 Form

  • photo ID = scanned identification of Student ID, Drivers License, Employment ID, etc. of a widely regarded governmental body. If you want to pixelize sensitive information, you may do so. The name of the institution, ID owner's name, and expiration date (or date of issue) has to be clearly visible upon the active ID card for this current period of time

Good examples of acceptable photo ID to be uploaded
It is completely amazing how many people submit a standard photograph of themselves taken by a regular digital camera, webcam, or phone cam instead of a scan or photo of a valid photo ID issued to them. If you use a digital camera to make a copy of your valid photo ID, please use a MACRO setting to take an up close and in-focus picture of the photo ID card.

When we check the submitted photos, if it's not a valid photo identification card, you'll receive another message from us with the instructions how to change your photo ID that we need to see in order to know that YOU are who you declare yourself to be by a secondary trusted identification authority.

If you do everything as prescribed, the review process is only a few seconds in duration followed by email from us how to take advantage of the promotion. The only question then is how often we check the queue that has your entry in it. During weekdays (Monday - Friday 10am - 4pm) the queue is checked usually every 10-15 minutes (minimum) and 2 hours (maximum). The queue is checked every 2 - 6 hours weekday off-hours. If your entry arrives after the end of work on a Friday, then it might not be reviewed until the following Monday morning.

If you don't submit a valid photo ID to us, then you only DELAY the possibility for a quick reservation as you'll have to submit a new file to us before we start your review process once again.

Please don't do anything to willfully DELAY your participation in this promotion.
