- To Register as a NEW Uof I or ISU STUDENT you will need your...
- PRIMARY E-MAIL ACCOUNT (the e-mail you check most often— preferrably NOT your school account, due to delivery problems)
- CURRENT CONTACT INFORMATION (campus mailing address)
- PARENT/GUARDIAN’S CONTACT INFORMATION
- NEW STUDENT PHOTO IDENTIFICATION CARD (Uof I exp. 2014)
- STUDENT E-MAIL ACCOUNT (name@ilstu.edu or name@illinois.edu)
- NEW PASSWORD for your LEX New Student account
- Student Photo ID = scanned image of Student photo ID Card. If you want to pixelize sensitive information, you may do so.
The name of the institution, ID owner's name and face, and expiration date (or date of issue, if available) has to be clearly visible on the uploaded ID card image.

You will begin registering for your NEW STUDENT account by clicking on the green “CLICK HERE TO GET STARTED” button below.
Fill out the registration form on the following pages as completely as possible. You will verify your e-mail address and phone number by entering a confirmation code which we will send you in
an e-mail or text message. Then you will enter your parents / guardian's contact information. You also have the opportunity to add other family and friends if you wish. Then submit a scanned image
of your valid student photo ID and send us an e-mail from your student e-mail account. Lastly, enter a new password and your account will be created.
Please read the “What determines a NEW FRESHMAN STUDENT?” qualifications in the right-hand column. There are examples of correctly uploaded Student ID images displayed below it.

If your submitted image is not a valid Student ID card, you'll receive instructions on how to change your Student ID.
We need to verify you are who you declare yourself to be–a New Freshman Student at Uof I or ISU.

| What determines a NEW FRESHMAN STUDENT? |

- You'll be considered a NEW FRESHMAN STUDENT when...
- your phone number(s) doesn't exist in the database (as of 6/1/2010)
- your primary e-mail address doesn't exist in the database (as of 6/1/2010)
- your primary e-mail address MUST receive e-mail from us without delay (for clickable verification, notices, reservations, and confirmations)
- your uploaded student photo ID clearly displays an expiration date of 2014 (Uof I)
- your uploaded student photo ID clearly matches the entered name on the New Student Registration Form
- you verify your student e-mail address provided by the university

It is amazing how many people will submit an ordinary photo of themselves with friends or family, rather than the scanned image we are requesting.
This only delays the validation process. If you use a digital camera to make an image of your Student ID,
please use a MACRO setting to take an up–close, in–focus picture of your Student ID card.

If you do everything as prescribed, the review process takes only a few seconds, followed by e-mail from us verifying your submission. The only question then is how often we
check the queue containing your entry. During weekdays (Monday–Friday 10am–4pm) the queue is checked usually every 10–15 minutes (minimum) to 2 hours (maximum). The queue is checked
every 2–6 hours during weekday off–hours. If your entry arrives after 4pm Friday, it may not be reviewed until the following Monday morning.
